The Road Not Taken

Artistic Interpretations of the Poetry of Robert Frost

Conceived of with friends and fellow artists, Corinne Dodge and Judy Krassowski, for the grand reopening of the Derry Public Library in Derry NH in September 2011 – this exhibit has been on the road ever since (with a break during Covid).  When we decided to take the exhibit on the road to libraries and other venues, our ambitious goal was to reach all corners of the state - as of September 2024 it has been in 86 venues around the state including 76 libraries.

The exhibit keeps evolving – it includes both new works inspired by the words of Robert Frost and older pieces that provide vivid and connective imagery for his anthology of poems.  The exhibit has afforded us the chance to revisit Frost’s poems – some of them as familiar as old friends, others unfamiliar and intriguing.  Our hope is that the exhibit will inspire others to revisit Frost’s work or discover it for the first time.

It has been and interesting journey with moments of serendipity – like discovering four intriguing marble busts by Frost’s daughter Irma in the attic of the Robert Frost Farm Historic site - which we then included in the exhibit there!  Getting to know libraries around the state has been wonderful – we have made fast friends and we look forward to more encounters on the journey.
